  • Nothing. Nada.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
    known unto God. Phil 4:6

careful from Greek word merimnao; to be distracted or anxious.

I have heard this verse many times, don't be anxious, don't worry, don't give thought to ... but today it takes on a different meaning. What I am referring to is not the word anxious or careful it's the word nothing. Nothing. Do you know what nothing means? How do you define nothing?

The situation with the job? Don't be anxious!
The situation with the guy? Don't worry about it!
The situation with the friend? Stop being so bogged down.

Instead of sitting and being bothered Paul tells them to take every thing ... not some things, not only church things, or "spiritual things" but every single thing to God in prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. God wants to be involved in my life, he wants to know the nitty gritty details and above all, he wants me to make requests, to ask for his direction and his help. My God is not a person sitting in heaven uncaring about human life, my God wants to be involved in my life and right now, that's good enough for me.
