I want to tell a tale ... I want to tell a tale of how my parents became my parents. (=
As far as I am aware, this is a true story that I am relating.
When my dad gave his life to Christ he immediately became involved in the church and was, after awhile, in charge of the young people. He was a very serious person and he didn't take slacking from his youths when they had events that they were hosting or things they were responsible for. He was one scary dude (or so I've heard) and while he's mellowed out quite a LOT I am pretty certain that I can see him as a scary dude ... after all, he IS my dad and in his younger days he was pretty scary to me! hehe
My dad and his male friends would usually spend nights praying, they were just on fire for Jesus and their prayers weren't stuck on just selfish things, their prayers was for their church and their communities and family. They were very strong in the word - always sharing and showing God's love.
My dad at some point started developing feelings for my mom and so one night after their outreach crusade he called her aside to talk to her. She thought she was in trouble and told her friend that if he was going to be telling her that she did anything "wrong" she would fight back because she did nothing wrong! (Spunky woman).
So my dad took my mom aside and told her that he has feelings for her as more than friends and he doesn't want them but God is not taking them away and if she does not feel the same way then she should tell him now so that he can deal with his feelings. My mom responded with, "the feeling is mutual".
They had their troubles, my dad's mom was against the marriage because of the race of my mom (she was mixed with black), however, my dad stood up for my mom and wrote a note to his mother telling her that while he knows that he should honour his parents, he realizes that he needs to honour God first and so, regardless of what she said he was going to marry my mother.
I'm happy that my dad stood up to his family like that, if he didn't I won't be alive today to witness God's goodness and his glory! :) Of course, because of God's love there is no conflict anymore between my mom and grandma and my grandma loves my mom a whole lot.
This story of my parents has inspired my own convictions right now, I only want someone who is seeking God with all his heart and I only want someone who will stand by me through thick and thin ... I know that kind of Christian man is out there and I am waiting.

Neat story :)
That makes me want to write my parents story :)
ha, when I read 'the feeling is mutual', I thought of when my husband and I started courting, his mom posted about it on xanga and said 'shane professed his feelings and Sarah reciprocated..." isn't that sweet...haha it makes it sound so technical and not romantic at all.
@Pickwick12@xanga - thanks :)
@quiet_strength - you should write your parent's story :) And yours and Shane's too! I'd love to read them!
and their little girl make a damn cute video...
